Whiter & Stronger Nails DIY

17:54:00, by Petite Style Beauty

Would you like to have whiter and stronger nails without using any chemicals?

Why buying whitening and strengthening products when you all have the ingredients in your home to make it yourself?
This is something I started making long time ago and I found it the best way to have perfect nails without having to buy any "miraculous" creams and oils on the market that claim to do wonders for your fragile and yellowish nails out there.

This DIY is easy to do and requires few ingredients.
I'll write down the list for you and then I'll explain what each ingredient is for.

YOU WILL NEED:

  1. A small jar, preferably an empty nail polish container - cleaned very well -, but anything will do, as long as it doesn't spill out. I used an old nail polish dryer container with spray lid;
  2. Extra virgin Olive Oil;
  3. Almond Oil, Coconut Oil, Jojoba Oil or any kind of 100% natural oil. You can put them all in, or few, or just one of these;
  4. Lemon juice, freshly squeezed;
  5. Bicarbonate of soda.
That's it!
The proportions are up to you. I prefer using half olive oil and half lemon juice, then few drops of other oils and a pinch of bicarbonate.

Once you filled up the jar you'll need to shake it and put it on your nails and cuticles, giving them a nice massage. You can spread it on the hands as well.
Leave the solution on at least for 10 minutes, then rinse it off.

It's better to do this treatment once a day for the first week, then two times per week would be fine.
You can do it whenever you like. This will make your nails stronger, whiter and nourished.
You will see the difference almost instantly!

PROPERTIES:

The Extra Virgin Olive Oil has a lot of good properties: it's rich in Vitamin E (with antioxidant properties), Iron (which contrasts brittle nails) and Omega3 & 6 (well known for nourishing and strengthening the nails).

Almond Oil, Coconut Oil and Jojoba Oil are very moisturising oils, filled with vitamins and antioxidants. They will keep your nails healthy and you won't need any extra moisturiser for your hands anymore!

Lemon Juice and Bicarbonate of Soda are also used for teeth whitening because of their natural bleaching properties.

What are you waiting for?
Grab the ingredients and do it yourself. Then, let me know if you liked it!

  3. My finger nails are ok but my toe nails have ridges and a few of them are discolored from bruising. Could I still use the same techniques like the virgin olive oil.

    1. You can put it anywhere, even in a cleaned jam container... or just for one time use in a bowl and let it sit on your nails!

  8. I rarely wear nail polish because I hate how it damages my nails and turns them yellow. This is a great natural tip that may allow me to wear polish more often, since I can repair them with products I usually have on-hand.
