Every morning I wake up and look in the mirror at some seriously tired and puffy eyes. Not a great way to start the day! If under eye bags and dark circles are bringing you down, then vanquish them with these simple and effective natural remedies.

What causes dark circles?

Dark circles and puffiness are not only caused by lack of sleep. Your daily habits and in some cases genetics are to be blamed as well. It may also be due to stress, constant crying, or a nutritional deficiency. So irrespective of the reason you have to find the appropriate solution and deal with the issue at the earliest.

Take a look at these home remedies that can help you get rid of dark circles naturally.

1.    Cucumber
Cucumber is one of the best home remedies to treat dark circles. It is antioxidant rich and also contains vitamins C and K. Also it has a cooling effect and discourages the accumulation of fluids under your eyes. Place cucumber slices on your eyes for 20 minutes every day to reduce dark circles.

2.    Almond oil

Almond oil is an evergreen solution which has been used for centuries for various beauty treatments. The oil is rich in Vitamin E, fatty acids, proteins and other minerals. Dab a few drops of oil on your hands and gently massage your under eye skin for a minute before going to bed. Repeat this daily and you will be able to see a noticeable difference in about two weeks.

3.    Milk

Milk contains lactic acid, calcium, potassium and other proteins and vitamins which can heal and lighten damaged skin. It also promotes collagen production and keeps the skin firm. Take some cold milk and soak 2 cotton balls in them. Squeeze out the excess and place them over your eyes. Leave it for 20 minutes and rinse off. Repeat this daily.

4.    Rosewater
Rosewater soothes stressed eyes and hydrates the skin. It restores the pH balance, reduces excessive pigmentation and helps fix your skin. It is also antibacterial and detoxifies the skin keeping it clear and bright. Crush fresh roses and make a fine paste. Add 1 teaspoon of glycerin and a few drops of lime juice to it. Apply this paste under your eyes. Leave it for 20 minutes and then wash off.

5.    Tea bags
You can use green tea, black tea, herbal tea or chamomile tea bags, all of which are highly beneficial in treating dark circles. The caffeine in the tea bags will diminish puffiness and reduce the water in the tissues around your eyes. Plus, they are loaded with antioxidants which make it a perfect under eye treatment. Take warm used tea bags, squeeze out the excess water and place them under your eyes for 15 minutes. Use them daily until your dark circles are gone.

Products that contain Vitamin C can also help with lightening dark circles. Check out this list of the top 5 vitamin c serums of 2016 to find out more about the benefits of Vitamin C.

This is why you have to take good care of your eyes and take steps to prevent dark circles and puffiness. Try these natural home remedies and you will be back to looking beautiful in no time.

  9. I have used all kinds of under-eye treatment creams to assist with my dark circles…From extremely costly too much less pricey. Dermalmd is by FAR the best I have ever used and I am seeing a big improvement after 3 weeks of use. And the price! You just can not beat it. I am a believer and can be shopping for this for the rest of my life.
